Legend of Zelda’s Link and other characters you’re not used to seeing alongside Mario will soon be crossing the finish line in Mario Kart 8 as part of some cross-franchise downloadable content announced by Nintendo.
Nintendo will offer two packs of downloadable content for the Wii U racing game. The first, out in November, gives players four new vehicles, eight new race tracks and access to Link, Tanooki Suit Mario and Cat Suit Princess Peach from Super Mario 3D World. One of the pack’s new vehicles is also the iconic Blue Falcon from the F-Zero racing series.
The second DLC pack, out in May 2015, unlocks Isabelle and the villager from Animal Crossing and Dry Bowser, a skeletal version of Bowser. It also has eight new tracks and four new cars.
Each pack retails for $7.99, and both can be purchased for $11.99. Those who purchase before Aug. 27 will unlock seven color variants for Yoshi and Shy Guy immediately.
This is the first time Nintendo has released DLC for a Mario Kart game.
Mario Kart 8 has sold nearly 3 million copies worldwide, according to Nintendo’s last fiscal update in July, and a million of those were in the United States.
